EXCLUSIVE EVENT: UK Caribbean Infrastructure Fund

The Caribbean  Council would like to invite you to an event to provide more detailed information about the £300million UK Caribbean Infrastructure Fund announced by the Prime Minister during his visit to Jamaica in September.

DFID Minister Baroness Verma and Caribbean Development Bank President, Dr Warren Smith (TBC), together with senior officials from DFID and FCO, will provide attendees with the latest information about the main objectives of the fund, the types of projects which will be eligible and the procedures by which funds will be allocated.  The event will be chaired by our President, Lord Foulkes.

The UK Caribbean Infrastructure Fund will be delivered through the Caribbean Development Bank to support economic growth in the eight ODA-eligible Commonwealth countries in the region: Jamaica, Guyana, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, St Lucia, Antigua, St Vincent, plus the Overseas Territory of Montserrat.

Typical projects will include: highways and bridges; water treatment & storage; sea and river defences; port upgrades; solid waste management. In addition there will be an extra £30 million to strengthen hospital infrastructure to resist natural disasters (the Smart Hospitals programme), and an extra £30 million to help Government’s in the region manage their public finances (the Skills for Growth programme).
