CEA COVID-19 Bulletin

As the UK, and the world enters unparalleled measures to lockdown both our business and personal lives, it’s hard to keep track of where to find the most up to date information on the COVID-19 crisis.  The CEA is in close consultation with responsible government departments and in receipt of a myriad of virus related information. In the attached document we have sifted out the key pieces of information on where, and how to find help.

The CEA is producing regular bulletins, signposting you to the key sources of information on the COVID-19 virus together with funding and employment information for both business and the individual. We will be updating the information at least  twice a week in this rapidly evolving environment.

Police Enforced Site Closures

We have just received the following information from our Construction Sector lead at  BEIS ……..  A number of you are probably aware that there have been several instances today of police officers visiting construction sites and requesting the closure of these. I would like to emphasise that this action is not consistent with the Government guidance, which is clear that construction sites should continue to operate if they can do so in a manner consistent with PHE guidance, recognising that the vast majority of construction work cannot be undertaken from home.

We are working with the IPA and the Home Office to ensure that accurate information is provided to the police, to prevent this from happening in future. If you receive questions from your members, please do explain the position as set out above. The police, like every public service, are working exceptionally hard in very difficult circumstances, and the confusion surrounding site operations is a much wider problem, and not their fault

We are planning a weekly webchat on Friday afternoons for members to catch up and share information or ask questions – joining details to follow.

Stay safe and let’s make sure we come out of this safe and well and ready to get business back on track when we finally emerge from lockdown.

Share.
