Why Bauma CONEXPO AFRICA?

Bauma CONEXPO AFRICA—the International Trade Fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines and construction vehicles in Sub-Saharan Africa. The show provides the construction and mining industry in Africa with a professional platform for networking, investment and the exchange of ideas and information. With a proven track record, the show, launched in 2013, has established itself as the most important event for the sector in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Key facts about the last show in 2015

  • 68,000 m² of exhibition space
  • 616 exhibitors from 42 countries
  • 14,311 visitors from 75 countries
  • International pavilions from the UK, Germany, Spain, USA, China, Italy and Turkey

Why South Africa?

There are currently 85 construction and mining projects in Southern Africa (Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe), a 29.7 % share of all projects in Africa, worth USD 93.4 bn. (Source: Deloitte Africa Construction Trends 2016).

Further details of these projects can be found in the article from KHL’s International Construction below. Projects range from a US$8 billion new “Smart” mini-city, Modderfontein, close to Johannesburg, to huge dams in Namibia, US$1.3 billion upgrades to Angola’s capital, Luanda, natural gas extraction, liqification and rail transport in Mozambique, power stations in Zimbabwe and the construction of the world’s biggest hydro power dam in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  Coupled with ongoing infrastructure improvements and upgrades and a predicted return to profit in the mining sector there’s some compelling reasons to exhibit at Bauma CONEXPO AFRICA in 2018.

Forecasts call for growth rates of 2.8 % in 2017 and 3.7 % in 2018—higher than those of more advanced economies. (Source: IMF)
