Below is a link to the latest monthly update from IHS Markit. The index in September picked up again after showing slightly lower rates of growth in August. In September it recorded 56.8, after dipping to 54.6 in the previous month.

Housing building remained the strongest performing sector, with firms registering a sharp increase in activity for the fourth month in a row. However, on the employment front, numbers across the industry are still continuing to fall, albeit at a slowing rate. Restructuring is still taking place within the industry to adjust to the new situation.

The UK index remains much more positive than the Eurozone construction market index, which also showed a further easing back in September to 47.5, after recording 47.8 in August.
