“There was confirmation of a number of new initiatives, and extra resource for existing policies, to encourage house building to facilitate home ownership. CEA members are on hand to supply the extra construction plant needed to build more homes, but the question remains whether the on site workforce with be sufficiently numerous and skilled to deliver the projects needed.
We welcome the announcement of more support for maths education – which echoes the general call from business to promote STEM subjects. Some relatively minor changes around R&D tax credits and business rates are also a step in the right direction.
The Chancellor also confirmed that the long awaited White Paper on Industrial Strategy is imminent, so we will be reading this with interest. It has the potential to set key policy agendas for some years to come”.
