Goody Demolition Ltd of Aylesham in Kent has opted for two new Volvo E series excavators for its demolition fleet.

Goody Demolition is no stranger to operating Volvo equipment having been associated with the brand since the early nineties. “Our past experience when it comes to operating Volvo excavators is extremely positive,” comments Plant Manager Ashley Ovenden. “The machines are built to a high standard and are certainly robust enough for the demolition applications we undertake also their reliability has been equally impressive.”

Joining the Goody Demolition fleet of predominantly run Volvo excavators come a new EC250E and a new EC300E both of which feature the latest Stage IV final Volvo 8 litre engine developing 213 and 240hp respectively. Whilst the EC250E has been specified for secondary demolition duties and equipped in standard backacter configuration, its larger brother has been supplied with a modular boom joint, a 22m reach three piece demolition rig as well as a straight boom.

The modification work on the EC300E was carried out by Messrs Kocurek of Ipswich which included a tilting cab complete with a full heavy duty FOGS guard, the modular boom joint and the three piece and straight boom arrangements. To facilitate the use of the equipment an additional cassette type counterweight has been added to the machine for maximum stability.

The maximum working height possible is 22 metres including and working with a 2½ tonne tool and attachment bracket.

The EC250E has been supplied with factory equipped secondary demolition options including heavy duty belly plates, side impact guarding, Fogs guarding to the cab and guarding to the bucket cylinder. Both machines have been supplied with twin lock quick hitches full guarding around the superstructures and additional hydraulic circuits to facilitate grab rotation for a whole array of demolition attachments used by Goody Demolition including shears, grapples and pulverisers.

The Volvo Care Cab on both excavators offers a large roomy interior with plenty of leg room and foot space. The excellent all round visibility is enhanced by pressurized and filtered cab air supplied by a 14 vent, climate control system. An adjustable easy to read LCD colour monitor provides real time information of the machine functions, important diagnostic information and a wide variety of work tool settings. The monitor also doubles as a monitor for the rear view camera.
